IPOD Notebook is your key to success! One of the most important things in fourth/fifth grades is to learn how to organize your papers and assignments.
Inside this notebook you will keep your classmates’addresses, homework assignments, handouts for the upcoming tests, and much, much more! Please keep the sections of your IPOD neat and organized. Clean it every weekend.
In order to make your IPOD Notebook, you will need a few things:
- 1 inch binder with a clear cover
- dividers
- IPOD skin (the cover for your binder, will be provided by the teacher, you can color it)
- Planner pages (provided by the teacher)
- binder whole puncher (optional, but strongly recommended)
Below is the description of the IPOD sections (click on the description to see a printable version):
1. Calendar Section is not really a section, but a place in front of all the dividers in your binder. This is where we will put in the calendar or any other papers that might be important for your work. |
2. Planner Section is reserved for writing down homework every day. The homework is posted on the web site, but students MUST write it down when directed in class. Internet may not always be avialable, so it is much better to write down your assignments in the Planner Section. These sections need to be signed by your parents every day! |
3. Test Prep Section is reserved for any kind of handouts that will help students to prepare for the tests. For example, it can include vocabulary and spelling lists, multiplication minute math drills, and any other paper that may be helpful in preparation for the tests. |
4. Reading Section is for Reading Logs, Book Reports, and other reading assignments. |
5. Projects Section is reserved for the descriptions of big projects, such as Science Fair, Glogster posters. It may include planning for multimedia (computer) projects, research reports in Science and Social Studies. |
6. Homework Section does not need to have a divider. You will be able to see it easily without a divider because it will have two folders. One is for the homework, due and done, and the other folder will include letters from school, the ones for information only and the special ones that needs to be signed by your parents. |
7. Art Section will have art projects, lyrics to the songs we sing in class, possibly scripts or other performances. |
8. Class Section is one of students’ favorite sections because it has everything about our class life. It will have a list of class jobs, information about class web site, our class phone book, and much more. |
